A wonderful weekend at Bride: The Wedding Show at Norfolk Showground
Posted on 21st February 2018
Engaged couples, and their family and friends flocked to Bride: The Wedding Show at Norfolk Showground in association with Eastern Daily Press, sponsored by Pure Brides and Grooms on the weekend of February 17 and 18.
Featuring more than 150 exhibitors, a breathtaking catwalk show and lively performances from entertainers, Bride: The Wedding Show at Norfolk Showground drew in approximately 2,300 visitors from Norwich and beyond. Sponsored by Pure Brides and Grooms and presented in association with the Eastern Daily Press, the show was a success for both exhibitors and budding brides and grooms alike.
From photographers and videographers to caterers and transport providers, exhibitors were on hand to provide inspiration and advice for the thousands of visitors. Suppliers included a variety of winners from the Bride: The Wedding Awards 2018, as well as a diverse selection of wedding professionals from throughout the region.
“It’s been a really good show,” said Terri Brice from Terri Brice Photography. “The show allows you to meet brides face-to-face, which for me is the best way – after all, brides are investing in me as much as the photographs and you want to make sure you get on with the photographer if you’re going to spend all day together.”
Vanessa Kisby, owner of sweet cart company Sweeties and winner of Bride: The Wedding Awards 2017 in the ‘finishing touches’ category, agreed: “It’s been crazy – we took lots of bookings at the show and more when we got home, and I spent all weekend on my phone answering enquiries. Our donut LOVE sign has been a real hit. This year it seems that everyone is going for that rustic look.”
With complimentary copies of Norfolk & Suffolk Bride available as well as a glossy showguide, visitors looking to rest their feet enjoyed the glitzy champagne bar in the centre of the exhibition space, and the nearby café provided by Brasted’s.
Outside in the bright February sunshine, catering companies and transport providers greeted guests as they arrived, including Bus and Us with its iconic Routemaster double-decker bus; The Wonky Donkey Mobile Bar and its converted vintage horsebox; and Station Smokehouse’s unique steam engine barbecue and grill.
For those looking for bridalwear, menswear and occasionwear inspiration, the spectacular catwalk was the place to be. Taking place four times each day, at 11am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm and 2:45pm, it featured outfits from top suppliers including La Belle Angéle, Pure Brides, Slaters Menswear and Jarrold. Each choreographed performance was prefaced by performances from Platinum Sounds to keep the crowds entertained.
The catwalk proved to be not only entertaining but also informative for the many brides and grooms in attendance. Bride-to-be Alison Jones, from Norwich, said: “It’s bigger than what I expected – the catwalk was definitely a highlight. The boys were so funny and I loved the dresses. That’s the next thing on my list to find, so I’ve got some ideas of what I like now.”
Bride-to-be Jessica Hill, from Witham in Essex, also enjoyed her time at the show. “We’re from Essex but marrying in Norfolk in 2019,” she explained. “I spent childhood holidays here so it’s nice to come back and create some more memories together – this is a very special place to me. I think we’ve found the perfect venue in Thursford and now we want to find some local suppliers to help dress it.”
Bride: The Wedding Show will be back at Norfolk Showground in February 2019.
