The sun was shining as excited brides- and grooms-to-be enjoyed a wonderful weekend of wedding planning at Bride: The Wedding Show at The Royal Norfolk Showground
A fabulous weekend at Bride: The Wedding Show at The Royal Norfolk Showground
Posted on 26th February 2019
Many of those had travelled to the show via the Bride: The Wedding Show Routemaster red double-decker bus, courtesy of Norfolk transport hire company, Bus and Us.
Goody bags containing treats from a number of the exhibitors were gifted to the first 100 brides on both days of the event as they walked through the cherry blossom decorated entrance and welcomed with a performance by Kavolini String Quartet.
Both inside and outside the showground arena, more than 120 exhibitors from across Norfolk and Suffolk were eager to discuss their products and services, as well as answer any questions and offer helpful advice to visitors.
Kevin Kitteridge of Silverline Limousines said: “Being outside this year has allowed us to have so many more cars on display. We have had lots of bookings, with the traditional wedding car, such as our 1920 Landaulette which is still the most popular choice for brides-to-be. We have noticed that more brides are choosing to get married at their local church. With our Landaulette, we are able to take the bridesmaids in one trip and then the brides and father in another – a great option for brides who only want to hire one car.”
Nick Scrivens, owner of Firefly Tipis, said: “This weekend has gone really well. We’ve had the perfect weather, a great location spot outside and very inquisitive customers. Our lounge area has had such a good response and people are realising exactly how diverse tipis can be for outdoor weddings; from an open plan relaxing lounge area, fire pits and bars to dining – with one tipi seating 50 and two tipis seating 120. It’s a great option for those who are looking for something different.”
Husband and wife team, Gayle and Andre Millward, of Norfolk Alpacas said: “This is our first time at Bride: The Wedding Show, and our alpacas have already drawn lots of attention from visitors. We have 16 alpacas in total, but we’ve only brought two along today. They are very docile animals and perfect for alternative entertainment, photographs and keeping children entertained. We also have an arts and crafts activities service, perfect with our hen party package for something different to do with your bridesmaids.”
Richard of Richard Jarmy Photography said: “The show has been wonderful. We’ve had a steady stream of people with some lovely enquiries. I have found that more couples are looking for fun, natural photography which captures their personality – long gone are the posed photographs. My top tip for couples looking for their photographer this weekend would be to make sure you like their work and build a strong rapport with them so you feel relaxed with them on your big day.”
Make-up artist Stephanie Alexandra said: “I’ve had so many bookings this weekend which is amazing as it’s my first time here. I came here last year as a visitor with my friend who was getting married and I knew I wanted to showcase my work here. This show is the perfect place to start for all brides and grooms. My style of bridal make-up is all about enhancing natural beauty. The last thing the bride want to do on the morning of her wedding is worry about doing her make-up, so having a make-up artist is an investment you’ll never regret.”
Jeremy of Jeremy James Photography said: “Today has been brilliant. This is our first time at Bride: The Wedding Show Norfolk and we have been busy with lots of enquiries. So many people have mentioned about our photos within the 2019 issue of Norfolk Bride and have found us from that, so it’s been a very positive day.”
The return of the sensational choreographed catwalk show captivated guests with 11 scenes and a finale of collections from Pure Brides and Pure Suit Hire – Bride: The Wedding Show’s sponsor, as well as Slater Menswear, Jarrold, Prima Donna and La Belle Angele.
Anna Hare, owner of show sponsor Pure Brides, said: “This is our fifth year as a sponsor and our 10th year here at Bride: The Wedding Show, Norfolk. This is our best show from the last three years, with our new mini catwalk getting a lot of attention from visitors.
“On the catwalk this weekend, we were able to showcase three new brands: Enzoani, which focuses on demure and glamour with stunning trains and embellishments; and Essense of Australia, which are more fitted and construction style gowns; and finally, Catherine Deane, a British designer with a romantic boho style and flowing silk fabrics. It is great to be back and we are very proud to be this year’s sponsor and it means a lot to us to be associated with Bride The Wedding Show.”
Between shows, guests were able to indulge in the delicious banqueting area, decorated by The Banqueting Hire Service, or enjoy a glass of fizz in the central champagne bar decorated to honour Bride: The Wedding Show’s 10th birthday.
Bride-to-be Steph Ward from Bury St Edmunds said: “I already have my venue booked so I was looking for styling ideas today. I also haven’t booked a photographer yet for my 2020 wedding as I haven’t found anyone whose work I have really liked yet – hopefully I will do today.”
Bride-to-be Jess Clarke was joined by mum, Karen. She said: “The team at Slater Menswear were so friendly and helpful today, and I’ve got loads of ideas to take home to my fiance.”
One of the brides who travelled to the show on the Bride: The Wedding Show Bus by Bus and Us said: “We travelled here on the Bus and Us bus and had a really great time. I am most looking forward to seeing the catwalk show as I haven’t started looking for any dresses yet.”
This year, Bride: The Wedding Show also held a Best Stand competition. Visitors in their hundreds voted for their favourite stands and the winners were announced on Sunday, 24.
